We are thrilled to share that we've been invited to attend the World Expo, which takes place in Osaka, Japan this year, as a speaker. We will be speaking on April 29th in a session themed "The Power of Design to Create New Traditions: Shaping the Future of Lifestyles," organized by Global Shapers Osaka. It's an honor to be able to introduce my design work through NOT on a global stage and to speak with the other panelists about the power of tradition and innovation through design.
Tune in to the panel's livestream on April 29th from 2 - 4 PM Japan Standard Time here.
The World Expo, dating back to 1851 with the Great Exhibition in London, takes place once every five years. I had the opportunity to attend the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai and I remember being absolutely in awe of experiencing so much unique architecture in one place, feeling that the world was at my fingertips. The defining symbol of this Expo, under architect Sou Fujimoto, is certainly his 60,000 square meter wooden walkway, constructed with a mix of traditional Japanese joinery techniques and modern engineering. In this fractured world with global instability and conflict, Fujimoto hopes the Grand Ring could symbolize unity, both amongst our countries and between human and nature.
